The Community of Prince George........

 Known as BC's northern capital, Prince George is a bustling city located on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T'enneh with a population of approximately 76,000 situated at the crossroads of Highway 97 (north-south) and Highway 16 (east-west), and at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers. The City of Prince George is a vibrant, active and diverse community that provides a strong focal point and identity to the north, with a thriving economy that offers full opportunities for housing, employment, education, recreation and the cultural life of residents.

How does the Northern Interior Children First Initiative work in Prince George?  

The Northern Interior Children First Initiative provides coordination and support to a collaborative community table as well as,committees and working groups supporting Early Childhood Development (ECD), Children and Youth with Special Needs (CYSN) and Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Initiatives.

 Prince George Committees/ Working Groups include, but are not limited to:

Child, Youth & Family Network.

Perinatal Liaison Committee (Includes Baby Friendly Committee).

Community Grants Review Working Group.

Preschooler Health Day Circuit Working Group.
Child Abuse Response Committee

Parenting Committee.
Community Infant Mental Health Committee.
 Early Years Health Fair Working Group
The Northern Attachment Network.

Collaborative community tables/committees/working groups membership consists of representatives from: 

 

Ministry of Children and Families, Northern Health, School District #57, Prince George Child Development Centre, Success by 6, Northern Family Health Society, Child Care Resource and Referral, City of Prince George, Public Health Agency of Canada, Intersect, Prince George Native Friendship Centre, University of Northern British Columbia, AimHi, PG Literacy Outreach and more..........
